Mono County, CA Housing Choice and Policy Survey

The Root team conducted a needs assessment for Mono County that was based on a statistically significant survey of residents. Two survey efforts were conducted—one representing the Town of Mammoth Lakes, and another of the rural portions of the county. Overall, more than 1,000 residents and in-commuters responded to the rural survey, which was conducted by telephone and included a statistically significant sample of low income residents. This was supplemented by a voluntary survey of nearly 900 permanent residents and more than 100 seasonal owners. Survey results, including resident preferences and willingness to make trade-offs in housing type, cost, and location, were used to determine the most effective solutions to housing needs.
