Project Description
This Regional AI was completed with an extensive community engagement process. Methods of engagement included a resident survey available in seven languages; resident focus groups; stakeholder focus groups; pop up engagement at legal clinics, day labor sites, and day shelters; presentations at policymaker meetings; and two large community meetings. This resulted in engagement of nearly 6,500 residents and stakeholders.
The highlight of this study was two community meetings to celebrate the region’s diversity and gather input on how to address the complexities of housing challenges. These events were held in the region’s most diverse neighborhoods with interpretation in seven languages, and incorporated food, dancing, music, and housing resource discussions into the programming.
Findings from this engagement, in addition to the quantitative analysis conducted for the study, were used to identify impediments and determine the highest priority fair housing issues.
